Current Program - Beating the Beast: January 18 to March 8th, 2007

Session 5 A Fresh Start February 22

This program is currently running in partnership with Chinook Health.  All sessions are held at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital, Thursday evenings, 7:30pm to 9:00pm.  Cost of the program is $125 per person.

0 Introduction and Orientation Overview of the Program, Objectives and Principles
1 Breaking the Habit Introduction to Smoking as a Learned Behavior and the Addiction to Nicotine. Introduction to stress reduction techniques.
2 Ready to Quit Analyzing Your Smoking Habit, Developing Quit Strategies, Understanding Addiction, Creating Tools
3 Quit Day Quit strategies, Preparing to deal with urges, Beginning a new lifestyle as a non-smoker, discussion of nicotine fading products and other pharmaceutical aids.
4 Winning the Battle Review and support of your non-smoking lifestyle. Honing the tools needed to deal with the urges and to un-learn a un-healthy lifestyle.
5 A Fresh Start Additional expert resources: advice from dietitian on healthy diet and weight control; focus on stress reduction by a psychologist
6 Staying Quit Increasing physical activity, assertive communication, self-image as a non-smoker.
7 Celebrating Success Final Assessment and graduation.  Moving on to live the life of a non-smoker.
