| We are a privately owned and operated Canadian company, in business since
July 1985. Our
focus is the home healthcare market including pharmaceutical care, customized
dosage forms, complementary medicines
and the knowledge and expertise that goes with this. Although a certain portion
of the business is product based, the knowledge base, represented by the trained staff of
pharmacists, nurse, technicians and homecare consultants is where we put our emphasis. As
a result, we offer a complete package of products and services for the healthcare
consumer and the healthcare practitioner. We have specialized in a few unique areas. Custom Compounding is just one which has met the need for flexible solutions to therapeutic problems. The pharmacist is able to customize the product to best solve the therapeutic challenges that present themselves to physician, dentist, veterinarian, podiatrist and naturopath. The pharmacist works closely with the practitioner and the patient to create a solution that best fits the needs of the patient. No more one size fits all and instead, the product is made to fit the patient. This may be as simple as changing the dosage form from a tablet to a syrup. Or it may require a somewhat sophisticated solution such as an injectable product that is no longer available, or a delivery system not available commercially. The possibilities are limited only by our imagination which is stretched to the limits daily. The need for better care in the community motivated the growth of our Home Healthcare focus. We are proud to show that a substantial portion of our business resources go into providing a large selection of products for patient care in the home. Everything from wound care to ostomy to compression therapy, post mastectomy prostheses, ambulatory aids, incontinence supplies, aids to assist daily living and much much more. This is our focus and not a sideline. Anyone who walks into our store will see this is very true. We have not only the products but the staff to support as well. We will make certain that the best care doesn't have to happen just in the hospital, but at home too. The internet alone offers access to information not previously available to us or to patients. The pharmacist and/or technician has available powerful search tools and huge databases of drug information. Many pharmaceutical companies make available high quality information about their products, including clinical studies, adverse drug reports, drug interactions and recall information . Where time is often our enemy, the internet has defeated that threat and put a whole new definition on that term. This website, we hope, will meet some those information needs. We recognize that our value to our customers, our patients, the health practitioners we work with, is the pharmacist's knowledge and ability to improve patient health outcomes. This might include traditional allopathic medicines or it may be a less than traditional approach, such as a botanical remedy, homeopathic medicine or nutraceuticals. A pharmacist for over 30 years, with most of those years spent in community pharmacy. One of the principals in the company that made Stafford Pharmacy & Home Healthcare a reality in 1985. Has been involved in a variety of professional and service innovations. Always working to find ways to incorporate new ideas, new strategies and technologies into the practice of pharmacy. "Innovations in our profession have to make sense and not just be attractive from a "nice to have" viewpoint. It has to make sense to the patient and it must contribute to a better outcome before its use can be justified". At the same time, our value as Pharmacists, our real expertise is not the distribution function everyone knows us for - that is the dispensing of medications - as that can be done more efficiently and effectively by the highly trained Pharmacy Technician. No, our value is in the transfer our our knowledge, to the patient, making certain that they receive safe and effective drug therapy; and to the various prescribers of drug therapy. This is where our real value lies. Jaclyn is a new graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Alberta. She has worked with us during the summer as a technician and done her clinical rotation with us as well. Definitely a familiar face and a welcome addition to the professional staff. She has an interest in patient care, especially where it can make a real difference in the health of her patients. Expect to see some aggressive and innovative approaches introduced to Stafford Pharmacy & Home Healthcare in the coming year. |

The Pharmacy Technicians play a very key role in the functioning of a busy pharmacy such as ours. As well, they are given more responsibilities as well as opportunities as a result of the special services we offer, from sterile product preparation, home parenteral antibiotic therapy, transdermal dosage forms or a customized medicine for your companion animal. They are involved in every stage of preparation and delivery. Our Pharmacists rely on their skills and their expertise, to keep the dispensary operating efficiently and effectively, always maintaining the highest standards. |

Laura is the Homecare Manager as well as a registered nurse with a university Bachelor of Nursing degree. She has extensive experience in direct patient care that includes emergency medicine and intensive care nursing. She is our Homecare Expert and this has come as a result of an additional 22 years of experience in our Home Healthcare Department. Laura has been responsible for building our expertise in all areas of Home Healthcare, whether it is Wound Care, Compression Therapy, Ostomy, or Post Mastectomy Prosthesis fitting. She is responsible for the high standards of care we are able to provide in-store and also the customer care that you will see provided by the staff. We hope you will come to rely on our Home Healthcare department for all your home health needs. Speak with any of the homecare consultants, Lauran, our most senior staff person; Lesley and Shannon, who both bring to Stafford Pharmacy & Home Healthcare, many years of experience in Home Healthcare. They know the products, for sure, but they also know how to choose the right product for the best results. If insurance coverage applies, they will help you wind your way through some of the complexities in an effort to make sure you receive the adequate coverage available to you. Don't see the product you think you might need, talk to the Consultants, as there are too many products in-house to comfortably browse, so let them help you find the product for you. Deb is our Front Store Manager, our front store buyer and merchandising manager. She has the responsibility to see that the front store product selection is exactly what customers are looking for. Although we do cater to our regular clientele, we are able to search for products, with the intent of bringing them in on a special order basis or as regular stock when that interest is communicated to us. If you can't find what you need, please talk to one of our sales associates as everyone is trained to research product availability and to procure that product for you. |

They all have a great deal of retail experience, individually and of course collectively, they represent many years of experience. Looking for a particular product but can't find it? Let them help you out, as we have a wide variety of products and sometimes finding them just takes a little help from these associates. They are not only friendly but very skilled in finding the products you need in-store and for ordering, when needed. They are here to help you. Think of them as your very own problem solvers. |
